god... TODAY SO HIGH! but i'm too tired to blog now. I'll edit dis tmr =)
-------------------------
Ok, actually I was planning on giving up on this post. However, since Jas asked for it, I'll re write it to the best of my memory. As it is going to be a
LONG post, I decided to break it up into sections.
Before The Competition:
Well, today is the day of the SYF Opening Ceremony, also the day which our band was competing for 'Best Band Of The Year'. As we were supposed to be seated by 3pm, Jas and I decided to go shopping first before making our way to the stadium. Oh ya, we were also made to wear our oversized 50th aniversary shirt which was not too nice. Hahax.
We met on the train at Bedok Station where we headed to Newbie at Far East Plaza since I wanted to buy a new shirt. When we got there, we headed straight to the directory to prevent getting lost. After walking in circles, we finally found the shop number. (We almost missed it. Lol) The shop, to our suprise, was very small. The 2 sales people there were world's apart. The first sales lady that served us was very bad at service. As we were looking for some older designs in the shop, she kept wasting time finding for awhile, before coming out again saying "Sorry, no stock". She then tried recommending other designs. Finally when I found another one i liked which she recommended, she came out saying "No stock" again. Argh. Aren't the sales people suppose to know their stock? Anyway, the other sales lady was much better, she gave us very convincing and good recommendations (well, mostly new arrivals but I can't blame her) but she was very friendly and helpful. At least she constantly had a smile on her face unlike her other colleague (she seemed so lost). Well, Jas and I both bought a shirt each. Here's mine:
After that, we headed back to orchard MRT not before buying bubb

le tea! I had green apple ice blended (the usual) and Jas had chocolate ice blended (the usual too. lol) When we reached, we realised we couldn't enter the station so we loitered at Tangs to finish up. After drinking 3/4 cups each, we threw our drinks away before heading to Bugis for lunch.
At Bugis, we went to pastamania to eat. (well, I ate since Jas was full after her bubble tea =.=) While waiting for my food, we starting thinking of how to keep the big newbie bag since we did not want to carry it to the stadium. So we decided to stuff it vertically into Jas's bag. Hahax! Her bag became so stiff! We then starting talking about all sorts of stuff. Then, I held a fork next to screwie (yes, my mini voodoo!) and Jas took a picture of it. It was really cute since screwie looked like a devil holding a pitchfork:
After eating, we went to catch a glimpse of the Superband stage which was set up for the Superband performance which was held at 3pm. Since it clashed with our band competition (to Jas's dismay) we couldn't watch it. With that, we hurried to Kallang and made our way to the stadium.
The journey from Kallang station to the stadium was quite a long walk. With the weather against us, we practically had to drag ourselves there. However, we still found ways and means to entertain ourselves. (as usual. Hehe.) Unlike the time we came for the central judging, we decided to jaywalk instead of taking the overhead bridge. It was quite funny listening to the other people who were so scared of jaywalking! They were squealing away each time a car passed them. =.= There was an uncle there who was so nice. He was teaching them when to cross and guided them across. When we reached the midway, we thought it would be easier. Wrong thinking though. We had to climb across this low barrier. Haha. After getting across it, we realised it wasn't as low as we expected. When I crossed it, I practically had to sit to bring myself over! Hahax! What an experience! After that we made our way to the stadium without any more problems.
At The Stadium:
When we finally reached, we were quite lost, but after awhile, we managed to find Ger and Chong and sat with them. The bench was so hot that it was almost impossible to sit, but we sat down anyway. We were later joined by Roshni and Sweta. They then started handing out these balloon clappers. However, Hou Chiat and his friends had other uses for them. Instead of banging them together like everybody else, they stomped on them to make the balloons explode! In the end, they burst all they had and tied them together as pompoms. Lol. After waiting for almost 2 hours, the ceremony finally began! It started with the contingents marching and the arrival of PM Lee. When all those were over and we thought the band was going to perform, we were dissappointed when it was the 2 foreign bands form Malaysia and Thailand who get to perform first. After their boring performances, it was finally TK's turn!
You will never guess how loud our cheers were when they entered the stadium. We could have brought down the stadium! Our band did a spectacular performance while all TKsians watched with pride. It was such a good performance that I didn't even had the chance to take any pictures! After that enjoying 7+mins, it was boring again as the other bands performed, none even close to TK. To kill time, we took many pictures :
We stopped when a flock of ducks caught our attention. Yes, ducks. It was a dance performance by some school.

It was so funny we started taking pictures of them instead! Hahax! Duckies holding some reflective thing. (left)
After their performance, it was another unusu

al dance segment by another school. At first, we though it was just waving of silver rings but we got a shock when they expanded their ring and covered their bodies with it. From afar, it looked like little silver maggots swaying about and it was quite disgusting. Haha. (right)
After all the weird dances, the SYF opening ceremony was going to close. Not before the announcement of "Best Band of The Year" and "Best Drum Major of the Year" though. First was the announcement of "Best Drum Major" we all held our breaths hoping that TK will win it but was dissappointed when Deyi took it instead. Breaths were held again as the "Best Band" was going to be announced. As they announced our school's name, the crown bursted out in lound roars again. We are once again, champion. This time, it was our 5th consecutive year winning the award which made us even more proud. Well, after all the excitement, there was still the closing item where Zhiyang and Teresa would be singing "Reaching Beyond", this year's theme song. I spent half the song looking for Zhiyang as the camera kept focusing on Teresa. In the end it was too far to see anything. Sigh... Oh well, TK won "Best Band Of The Year!". After the ceremony had officially ended, we went down to watch them play for us again. This time we were much closer and the music was ten times louder. Haha. Well, we did take more pictures while congratulating them:
The one with Jialiang in it was not actually intended. He popped out of nowhere while we were just about to take the picture. Hahax. It was very funny but luckily the picture still turned out not bad. =)
After The Competition:
After all the photo taking and congratulating, the band members were leaving the stadium. It was also about time we left. Jialiang then suggested that we go for dinner. After much discussion on where to eat, we all agreed on Parkway. So Jialiang, Isaac, his friend, Ger, Chong, Jas and me started to make our way to the bus stop. The journey was very eventful. After we left, and started walking for about 5-10 mins, Jialiang proposed a shorter route. We were quite skeptical about that route because everyone was leaving from that direction while we were entering it. However, we followed him anyway. We ended up at another side of the stadium (sort of back to where we first started). It was a big detour since there was some construction going on.
Being lazy people, we cut through the construction site instead. It wasn't really a construction site actually, just a lot of sand and uneven road. All was well until we reached the ending of that construction site: there was a big, deep drain blocking the exit. Isaac, his friend and Jialiang jumped across first, being guys =.= then Ger, who was quite brave, jumped next. I was a little doubtful at first but jumped anyway. It was very scary as Ger and I barely made it. Chong then decided to follow suit as well. Jas, on the other hand, did not want to jump, seeing that all 3 of us barely made the edge so we had to find an alternative. In the end, towards the far left of the drain, there was a platform there where Jas walked over.
Phew, I'm so glad that was over.
We continued our long journey without much problem until we came to this very long traffic light. At first we thought it wasn't working since there was a traffic police there. When the green man came on, we crossed the road. Suddenly, there was a taxi which turned round the corner very quickly! We were scared so we started to sprint to the other side. It was a close call since the taxi did not even slow down and just barely passed us. That was 2 dangerous encounters in less than an hour.
After all those experiences, we finally made it to the bus stop at Old Airport Road. (I think we went the wrong way and surely there's a nearer bus stop...) We took almost an hour to reach the bus stop and headed to Parkway. There, we ate and left the place at 9pm. By the time I reached home, it was 10pm and I was exhausted. Resulting in my earlier post. Haha.
